St Joseph's Catholic School in Guildford recently held two fundraisers with their pupils and staff, raising over £700 to provide uniforms for School Children at FISCH!
The highlight of the day was an online interview with Aloyce, one of FISCH university graduates, asking him questions about his life in Tanzania and how FISCH had helped him to work through Education and to go to university. The pupils at St Joseph's all wore clothing in the colours of the Tanzanian flag and had to choose a single item of stationary to use for the entire day, gaining an insight into the realities of studying with limited resources.
A huge Thank You to the pupils, staff and parents of St Joseph's Catholic School!
Samuel, his Dad Rob, his uncle and cousin decided they wanted to ride from Bramley to Brighton for fun. Samuel thought it could be a good opportunity to offer sponsorship and raise money for FISCH so that’s what he did!
The ride went really well with no-one falling off and no punctures! They completed the 43 mile ride in 4:20hours and arrived looking as fresh as when they’d started and immediately went to the arcades (just the boys!).
Samuel and his family raised over £300 for FISCH, so a big Thank You to all of us at FISCH to Samuel and his family!
The St Saviour's Craft Group, based in Guildford, have supported FISCH not once but twice at their Christmas Fair stall of homemade goodies. The group meets regularly and after hearing about the work of FISCH, decided to do some Christmas fundraising. They have made over £1000 producing homemade marmalade, jams, lavender bags, and more.
Thank you, St Saviour's Craft Group!
We are thrilled to be chosen to be the recipient of a generous donation from The Buchanan Programme & Richard Boyd, of Orbis Investment. The Buchanan Programme offers employees the opportunity to award a personal allocation towards a charity of their choosing. One of employees of Orbis, Richard Boyd, chose FISCH to be the recipient – of an amazing £2000! It is an honour to be chosen, and a huge financial blessing to receive. Thank you!
The eldest daughter of Elizabeth and Bob Murphy was married to her fiancé in July of this year. It was a wonderful day of celebrating the union of this lovely couple. The couple decided to start their married life with a real act of kindness. Instead of spending money on favours to their wedding guests, they decided to donate that money to FISCH instead. We’d love to take this opportunity to say both Congratulations! and a huge Thank You! to the new Mr and Mrs for their generosity.
"I organised two mini fund raising events through my work as a teacher.
The first was a ‘bake and sell’ where children aged between 4-7 baked and then sold the proceeds in the afternoon for FISCH.
The other was learning about mission and justice in RE lesson. Children brought in ‘free trade’ goods and we then used them to bake banana bread and chocolate biscuits to sell. We looked at the fisch photos of children who could go to school once someone had funded their uniforms so our hope was to fund this.
We managed to pay for 2 uniforms from the proceeds which was a good surprise!"

Recently St Saviour’s Church in Guildford held a Charity Quiz Fundraiser. The Quiz was a fun evening and a great success, with Lissie of the UK Team being able to talk a bit about FISCH.
The monies raised from the Quiz were split between two charities, one of which was FISCH! A whopping £1400 was donated to each charity!
Not only that, but many people were interested in learning more about FISCH, and several people volunteered sponsorship for some of our FISCH Kids who are in Higher Education – for instance, Happy, who is studying Social Welfare Development at Certificate Level (the first year out of three) now has her financial fees covered for the rest of the academic year.
What wonderful provision!
Carolyn of the UK FISCH Team held a
birthday fundraiser towards uniform and
stationary supplies for Kids.
We reported that her kind friends and family raised enough funds to provide 50 Children with uniforms and stationary, providing even more Children with these necessities.
Without these, they cannot go to School, so this has been a real blessing. Thanks again Carolyn!
